Renovations

Home, kitchen and bathroom renovations, thoughtfully planned and professionally delivered.

What's involved

From kitchen and bathroom renovations to partial and complete home transformations, SWBG can bring your project together under one contract, managed by a dedicated team from start to finish.

Whether you're updating one area, renovating multiple spaces or reconfiguring your entire home, we'll work with you to understand what you want to achieve and establish a clear scope for the project.

Depending on the works, we can coordinate design, structural alterations, engineering, approvals, joinery, plumbing, electrical, flooring and finishes, bringing every part of your renovation together.

Before construction begins, we'll assess the existing property and identify any areas that may require further investigation. Where required, we can also coordinate designers, engineers, certifiers and other consultants to prepare your project for construction.

Once works commence, we coordinate the trades and suppliers involved, with weekly progress updates keeping you informed throughout the renovation.

Questions, answered

Renovation FAQs

Can I stay in my home during the renovation?

Often, yes. For kitchen, bathroom and partial home renovations, we can stage the works where practical to help keep parts of the home accessible. For larger renovations or extensive strip-outs, temporary relocation may be recommended.

Do I need council approval for my renovation?

It depends on the scope. Cosmetic renovations may not require approval, while structural alterations, additions and certain external works may require a CDC or DA. We can assess this early and help coordinate the required consultants and approvals.

How much does a renovation cost?

Every renovation is different. Cost depends on the size and scope of the works, existing conditions, structural changes, access, selections and level of finish. Once we understand your project, we can provide more accurate pricing and discuss the most suitable approach.

How long does a renovation take?

A single room renovation may take several weeks, while larger or whole-home renovations can take several months. We'll establish a project programme based on the scope and explain the expected stages before construction begins.

What happens if you uncover hidden damage or unexpected issues?

Existing homes can sometimes reveal concealed issues once demolition begins. Where possible, we investigate likely risk areas beforehand. If something unexpected is uncovered, we'll document it, explain the options and discuss any cost or programme implications before additional work proceeds.

Can you help with design, engineering and approvals?

Yes. Depending on your project, we can coordinate designers, engineers, certifiers and other consultants, as well as assist with selections and documentation required to prepare the renovation for construction.

Do you only offer fixed-price contracts?

No. Depending on the project and your requirements, we can discuss fixed-price, cost-plus and project management arrangements and run you through the differences to determine the most suitable approach.

Can I use my own trades or supply my own fixtures and appliances?

Yes. We're flexible. If you have preferred trades or suppliers, or would like to source selected appliances, fixtures, fittings or finishes yourself, we can discuss this upfront and clearly define responsibilities and what's included within our scope.
