NDIS & SDA Builds by SWBG in Sydney

NDIS & SDA Builds

Accessible home modifications and specialist disability accommodation, built around individual needs.

What's involved

Accessible home modifications and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) builds — practical, carefully coordinated and tailored to the individual, from accessible bathrooms and home modifications through to complete SDA dwellings.

Accessible building is about creating spaces that genuinely support the way a person lives. We take the time to understand the participant's requirements and work alongside occupational therapists, support teams and other consultants to translate those needs into practical building solutions.

For existing homes this may include accessible bathrooms, ramps, handrails, widened openings, level access, circulation improvements and other modifications identified within the approved scope.

For SDA projects, we can work with the project team to deliver new dwellings in accordance with the applicable SDA Design Standard and nominated design category, coordinating construction requirements, documentation and inspections required throughout the build.

Before works begin, we review the available reports, drawings and functional requirements to identify any buildability issues and establish a clear construction scope.

Throughout construction, SWBG coordinates the trades, suppliers and consultants, with regular progress updates and appropriate documentation maintained through to completion and handover.

Questions, answered

NDIS & SDA BUILDS FAQs

What experience does SWBG have with NDIS projects?

SWBG brings both building experience and a practical understanding of the NDIS environment. Director Nabil Hamwi also owns and operates an NDIS provider business, giving our team an understanding of participant needs, communication and the coordination involved between families, occupational therapists, support teams and other stakeholders. SWBG is also registered to undertake NDIS building works.

Do you work with occupational therapists and support teams?

Yes. We can work from OT reports and functional recommendations and coordinate with participants, occupational therapists, support teams and other consultants to help ensure the building works reflect the participant's assessed requirements.

What types of NDIS home modifications can you complete?

Depending on the project scope, works may include accessible bathrooms, ramps, handrails, widened doorways, level access, circulation improvements and other modifications designed to improve accessibility, safety and everyday use of the home.

What information do you need before pricing a home modification?

This depends on the project. An OT report, functional assessment, drawings and an approved or proposed scope of works can help us understand the participant's requirements and provide a detailed quotation.

Can you modify an existing home for wheelchair access?

Yes. We can assess and carry out modifications to entries, bathrooms, doorways, internal circulation and external access to improve wheelchair accessibility in accordance with the project requirements and approved scope.

Can you build Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?

Yes. We can construct SDA dwellings in coordination with the project team and applicable SDA Design Standard requirements, including Improved Liveability, Robust, Fully Accessible and High Physical Support projects.

How is SDA compliance and certification handled?

SDA projects have specific design and certification requirements. We work alongside the relevant designers, consultants, certifiers and SDA assessors to coordinate the construction requirements, inspections and documentation needed throughout the project.

Can you work with our existing OT, designer or SDA consultant?

Yes. If you already have a project team in place, we're happy to work with your existing OT, designer, engineer, certifier, SDA assessor or other consultants and coordinate the building works with them.
